Packing Bee

Smile on Seniors is always looking for more volunteers to help us in our fortnightly packing sessions. We invite all members of the community to join us in packing Shabbat packages to over 255 seniors in 25 + facilities across Melbourne. The Shabbat packages bring a taste of Shabbat to the seniors, bringing back warm memories, and ensuring the seniors feel appreciated and connected to our community.

These packing bees occur regularly throughout the year. You can check the website or our Facebook page for upcoming packing bees, times and location details. Please use the sign up form on this website.

Please come back later in the year to join our NEW PACKING BEE at our hub to help support the seniors with care packages!

Volunteering One-on-One

Looking to do something really life-changing and special this year? Here at Smile on Seniors we offer you the opportunity to give back to your community and make a change in both your own life and somebody else’s.

The Smile on Seniors grandfriend program provides an opportunity for volunteers to create an ongoing friendship and companionship with a senior. This program is designed to pair a volunteer (over 18 years) and senior with a common interest, allowing for connection and relationships to be formed. These ongoing friendships create a sense of meaning and purpose for both the giver and recipient.

If you are interested in any of our volunteering opportunities, please complete the form below. We would love you to join us at our Happiness Hub and help make our Seniors smile.

Requirements:

18 + years old

Weekly or fortnightly visits for a minimum 6 month commitment

Interview, police check, onboarding and induction process

We would love you to join us at our Happiness Hub and help make our Seniors smile.

Thank you.

The One on One visitation program is proudly funded by the Australian Government, Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS).

The Holocaust survivor visits are kindly founded and supported by Bindy and David Koadlow.
